One Voice Kendal (incorporating Kendal Shopmobility)

One Voice in Kendal is a Centre for Independent Living. We have spread the wings of what was Kendal and South Lakes Shopmobility to offer the people of the local area a more comprehensive service. A service which was lacking but clearly needed by many disabled people and their families and carers, in South Lakeland.

We asked local disability groups and people with a disability living in the area what they wanted or needed to live as independent a life as possible.  Many said they needed a place to get benefits advice, advice on healthy living and exercise, to buy or hire small disability living aids at a small cost, to be able to get support on many things including someone to talk to and listen to them and for this all to be in one place

We now offer most of these services including: advice on grants and benefits for disbaled people, advocacy, peer and support, advice on healthy living, signposting and a listening ear. We will accompany you to ATOS or other meetings if you wish.

At One Voice we offer these services to physically disabled people as well as their families and carers.

The hire of mobility scooters and wheelchairs is still available on a daily or long term basis for mobility scooters and wheelchairs as well as other disability living aids including bedroom and bathroom aids and walkers.

We have an open door policy so no need to make an appointment. and everyone, despite age or disability is welcome. We have a newly built interviewing room for your privacy, and all information we receive is totally confidential and professional
