At Dallam, we aim to give all of our students a rich and rewarding education, filled with exciting opportunities designed to develop independent learning, team work and creativity. Our reputation for academic excellence goes back more than 400 years to our foundation by Edward Wilson in 1613. Since then, we have continued to provide an outstanding education for young people in both the immediate area and from around the world. 

Opportunity underpins a diverse and flexible curriculum. We provide a unique learning environment in which students can choose from a wide range of academic and vocational opportunities. These range from GCSEs, BTECs and A Levels to the highly regarded International Baccalaureate. How does the setting/school/college know if children/young people need extra help and what should I do if I think my child/young person may have special educational needs?

The school assesses students in a variety of ways, from regular progress reviews to CATS testing, spelling and reading assessments and regular review of work in and out of the classroom. we pride ourselves in working together with parents/carers and identify additional needs through communication and reviews of progress of each student.

How will early years setting/school/college staff support my child/young person?

The SENCO and Learning support team together with the pastoral support team in school will work with parents and carers to explain and oversee the educational package put together for those with identified additional needs. 

How will the curriculum be matched to my child's/young person's needs?

Class work is differentiated for all students, staff work with the Learning Support team to ensure that a variety of different needs are catered for. The Learning Support team have a base where students can work independently with the team if needed. 

How will both you and I know how my child/young person is doing and how will you help me to support my child's/young person's learning?

Students are issued with progress reviews at regular intervals throughout the academic year. books are regularly marked and written feedback is given in books. Regular contact can be made with school via Pastoral staff or the Learning Support team.
